A Bit About Myself

My yoga journey

Hi, my name is Silvia Pontes :)

I’ve been a certified Yoga Instructor since 2016. But my passion for yoga started in 2006, when I experienced my first Yoga class as a reason to overcome some difficulties I was facing that time. I got in love with Yoga and since then and I always kept myself practicing it.

In 2016 I decided to take Yoga more seriously and learn more about it to be able to share this beautiful ancient way of life with others. So, I went to India to get a certification as Yoga Instructor. I travelled to the north of India, a city called Rishikesh, also known as the capital of Yoga and studied for 30 intensive days in a school called Rishikul Yogshala. My experience there was amazing and overwhelming at the same time, so many things to learn (and I am still learning, of course) and so many things to face and discover about your own boundaries and limits. Some of our colleagues gave up the course in the middle, but most of us made it till the end. It was one of the most amazing things I´ve ever done in my life. I am eternally grateful to have had the chance to make it.

After I got my first certification, I decided to keep studying to be able to offer more to my students. So I decided to study about prenatal Yoga. Pregnancy is an important phase of a woman´s life, so magical and so unique, being chosen to create a new life. I was fascinated about the benefits of Prenatal Yoga classes and started looking for courses. That´s when I came across YogaGro and found myself already enrolled into the next course: my Prenatal Yoga Certificate.

The foundation of my practice combines the physical with the inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement, and meditative awareness, I’m able to promote awareness of the interdependency of all these aspects in personal health and wellbeing.
